I have been wanting to take part in one of her retreats for the past three years, after investing in The Thriving Photographer for my business! She is truly inspiring!

I have to admit that in the days leading up to the retreat I was a nervous wreck. I'm traveling for the first time alone to meet 9 other women I've never met except online. I was leaving my husband and kids for 4 days and I was questioning whether I was worth it. ( I know most moms can understand this feeling!) I left Princeton at 3 am to head to the airport and as Brent saw me off I will admit there were some tears (me not him :) )

When I arrived in Las Vegas I was greeted with hugs and smiles and introduced to some amazing women from all over! I could not wait to get started! We spent the evening getting to know each other and telling our stories!
It was amazing to hear and resonate with some amazing women and Leah is a dream! Getting to know her was amazing, and to realize she is a regular person, just like you and I, is truly a dream!
We got started Friday with organizing business and life. Finding balance and being truly present and intentional about everything you do. This was a huge eye opener for me, making sure I'm being present and unplugged so I am there for my family.
The details were amazing and we were completely spoiled! Amazing food and thoughtful gifts and swag every time we turned around!
Friday evening we all got ready to head down to Fremont Street to have head shots taken! We walked around down town using amazing walls and streets as backdrops. It was a fun experience to be in front of the camera for a change. After head shots we headed to SlotZilla Ziplines and zip lined all the way down Fremont Street, which was a total blast!
We then headed to the Bellagio and had a relaxing dinner just chatting and getting to know each other even more. For dessert Leah took is to Jean-Philippe Patisserie for the most amazing crepes.
Saturday was all about marketing! This was one of my favorite parts! I came out so inspired and full of amazing new ideas! After marketing we had a few hours of down time and took advantage by enjoying the pool in the gorgeous Las Vegas sunshine, it was magical!
Afterwards we headed to the desert to do a photo shoot with a glowing momma to be and two high school seniors! I learned so much working with all these wonderful photographers!
Sunday morning it was hard to say goodbye, I left with a few tears but so inspired to get home and get to work. This trip was an experience I will never forget! It felt like a dream, but why shouldn't it??....... This life is for Thriving!

Time goes by so fast, which is why I love what I do. I stop time. Capture everything as it is right now, to look back on for years.

<![CDATA[How to choose a Wedding Photographer { Diane Blank Photography}]]>Thu, 18 Feb 2016 03:00:02 GMThttp://dblankphotography.ca/blog/how-to-choose-a-wedding-photographer-diane-blank-photography
So you are finally engaged! How very exciting!! You’ve set a date and booked your location… now its time to start looking for a photographer, but wait…. How do you choose!? There are endless options to choose from, how on earth do you narrow it down!? Here are a few tips to help you choose the right photographer for you.

Style & Image Quality

First of all you want to choose a photographer who’s style you LOVE!! Does the photographer have bright, clean images? Or do they have a soft romantic look… chances are they have a style they stick to. Ask to see a few full wedding galleries, this will give you a look at the photographers skill and image quality… not just the best of the best that is shown on their website.

Personality & Experience

You will be spending a big chunk of your wedding day with your photographer. It is important to choose someone who you feel you will get along well with. Your photographer will be fixing hair, dresses and veils, holding flowers and wrangling even the rowdiest of family members, make sure to choose someone you feel confident will interact well with your guests. Is your photographer approachable, professional and down to earth? Chances are your guest will be more relaxed and you will get a better story of your day as apposed to just posed portraits.

How many weddings has your photographer photographed? The more experience, the better the flow of the day will be. Your photographer will know where to be during the ceremony to get the very best images, know how to pose you for the most flattering portraits of everyone!
That’s not to say that if the photographer has fewer weddings they are less experienced… ask if they have worked with or been a second shooter for another wedding photographer… it’s the best way to gain experience.

I know everyone has a budget (I was a bride once upon a time) and every photographer will have a different way of creating their packages. Cost should, in my opinion, not be the 1 deciding factor. Remember that after the food has been eaten, the alcohol drank, the flowers have wilted, the photos will be the one thing you have to remember the day. 25 years down the road these captured memories will be so cherished.
Think about what type of coverage you want… do you want coverage of you getting ready all the way into the reception? Do you want coverage by 1 or 2 photographers? Do you want an engagement session or an album included? Also ask about hidden fees upfront… do they charge for travel? Is it extra to have your images edited? Do you receive print copies or the digital images? Figuring out what you are looking for will help to narrow down your options.
Choosing a photographer is not easy, but if you do your research and go with a style you LOVE you will never regret your choice. I hope this helped with choosing the right Wedding Photographer for your special day!

Happy Planning!
